It’s pretty safe to say that we all have experienced a detour in our lives. Detours are a forced re-route. They take us on a different path to the destination. They show up unexpectedly and guide us into the unknown.

Just like we encounter detours on the road, we encounter detours in our lives. Roadblocks show up in our lives to redirect us. Most of the time, they come out of nowhere, and they course us to go in a different direction.

We spend most of our lives living from the outside in. We look externally for what we should value, believe in, look like, and aspire to. Our entire system hinges on what the outside tells us to be. We are conditioned to seek validation, praise, and worthiness from external sources, and we stay in constant motion to distract us from living authentically. So, in an ever-changing world, we are always seeking…not being.

It is by divine design that we experience life-altering events that force us to pause long enough to allow everything to settle around us. In the pause, the truth is revealed. Our brokenness, our misalignment, our false identities, our unhealthy attachments…everything that we ignore in life shows up in the pause.

It is in the pause that we are gifted the opportunity to choose how we continue on. For some, facing the truth will never be an option, and they will choose to continue to cope and exist. For others, the truth will never allow them to go back to the way things were.

Choosing to face the truth starts the journey inward. It is the beginning of an unraveling that disconnects you from the external world so that you can discover and reconnect to your deepest truth-your authentic self. Is it scary? Yes. Is it painful? Absolutely. But, it is the preferred option because you know that choosing anything else would be like choosing death instead of life.

Gratitude by definition is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.  We often hear the word gratitude and fail to realize the transformative effect that it can have on our lives.  By pausing and thinking of something that you are thankful for  your entire mood can improve.

Gratitude shifts us out of the past and the future. It brings our focus to the present moment and allows us to see what is good, abundant, and meaningful in our lives. Focusing our energy on what we are most thankful for allows us to vibrate on a level that attracts goodness.

Just like in our refrigerators, things in our lives have an expiration date.  Some come with labels that are clear and easy to read while others are hidden and require us to search for them.  The “good” in our life is easy to determine.  The “good” motivates us, inspires us, makes us happy, nourishes us, and completely lights us up.  The “bad” in our lives is usually easy to determine.  The “bad” depletes us, demotivates us, makes us angry or sad, and usually stinks.  It is the “not good, but not bad,” aka the grey area of our lives that has the potential to stunt our growth.

Just like we take the time to examine and clear out our refrigerators, we need to take the time to examine and clear out our lives. In order to make room for new, nourishing things to come in, we have to be able to tune in and clear out what has expired.

Now that you are in the pause, what are you feeling?

Navigating Detours WorksheetHave you ever encountered an unexpected detour?”

HAS THE LABEL EXPIRED WorksheetWhen is the last time you thoroughly cleaned out your refrigerator?

Empathy, by definition, is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. The literal definition doesn’t make me feel anything, and I’ve discovered that empathy is mostly a feeling.

I heard it described beautifully in this way: “Think of empathy in the context of food… Pity is feeling sorry for someone that is hungry. Sympathy is bringing someone food that is hungry and eating with them. Empathy is feeding someone that is hungry before you feed yourself.”

What I’ve learned along the way is that before you give something to others, you must first know that you deserve it yourself, and you must not extend to the point that you pull yourself out of alignment and break. You can extend, but it’s over-extending that will create an unhealthy situation.

In life, it is so important to know what you deserve and to remain connected to yourself because it serves as the foundation for how you engage with life and everything in it.

Absolutely. But, it is the preferred option because you know that choosing anything else would be like choosing death instead of life.

Navigating Detours WorksheetHave you ever encountered an unexpected detour?”

Making Space WorksheetThe energy that we carry and allow inner lives dictates what we receive

When we are full of hate, we block love. When we are full of anger, we block peace. When we are full of sorrow, we block joy. When we give our power away, we block strength. The are are co-dependent, we block freedom. When we hold onto toxic relationships, we block divine connection. That is why you want to invite something different into your life, you have to take action and make space for what it is that you are inviting in.

HAS THE LABEL EXPIRED WorksheetWhen is the last time you thoroughly cleaned out your refrigerator?

The goal of a physical mask is to protect or cover up our faces from being seen or exposed. In the same way, we wear figurative masks to cover up the things about ourselves that we don’t want to expose. We walk around hiding who we are in order to protect ourselves from being judged or shamed.

It is easy to measure the value of an object by how much it cost. You can even measure how valuable something is by how much time it takes to acquire it. We all measure the things that we value differently. However, we all understand that in order for something to be valuable, it must be worth a lot.

Measuring your value based on external sources is a learned pattern. When we are born, we have all that we need inside of us. We are valuable from birth. Our value is an internal state of being, and nothing that we do, say, or acquire makes us more valuable than we already are. If you seek to find your value externally, your metrics will constantly change, and you will remain in motion in an effort to feel valued. Think of it as being on a hamster wheel and never getting off.

Change takes time. Disrupting patterns takes time. This practice is sent with love and here to support you on your journey. It isn’t a quick fix. Come back to it as often as you need to or don’t use it at all. The choice is always yours!

Navigating Detours WorksheetHave you ever encountered an unexpected detour?”

Taking Off The Mask WorksheetAt some point in our lives, we’ve all worn a mask. Whether it was a literal mask or figurative one, we’ve all hidden who we really are.

The goal of a physical mask is to protect or cover up our faces from being seen or exposed. In the same way, we wear figurative masks to cover up the things about ourselves that we don’t want to expose. We walk around hiding who we are in order to protect ourselves from being judged or shamed.

The masks we wear keep us trapped inside. They prevent us from experiencing life and growing into the people that we were truly created to be. No one judges or shames us as harshly as we judge and shame ourselves.

In order to shift into a space where you feel completely comfortable showing up exactly as you are, you have to embrace all the parts of you (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and you must take off your mask.

Empathy WorksheetTo truly understand empathy, you must feel it.

SETTING BOUNDARIES WorksheetHave you ever felt like someone’s buffet? Do you lay it all out for people and allow them to come and take as much as they want, whenever they want?

If so, setting boundaries may be an area of your life that needs more attention. Boundaries are the energetic barriers that help us stay connected, in tune, and in alignment with ourselves. They cultivate healthy relationships and attachments, and they prevent you from extending yourself beyond your limits.

Pausing To Reflect WorksheetAs you grow and become more engaged with life, it is important to check in with yourself consistently.

Pausing to reflect pulls you into the present moment.  It forces you to turn inward and connect with yourself on a deeper level.  It reveals what you need more or less of in your life, and it helps you understand how to move forward in a more aware and empowered energy.

HAS THE LABEL EXPIRED WorksheetWhen is the last time you thoroughly cleaned out your refrigerator?

The Gift of Gratitude WorksheetWhat are you thankful for?

Gratitude by definition is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.  We often hear the word gratitude and fail to realize the transformative effect that it can have on our lives.  By pausing and thinking of something that you are thankful for  your entire mood can improve.

Gratitude shifts us out of the past and the future. It brings our focus to the present moment and allows us to see what is good, abundant, and meaningful in our lives. Focusing our energy on what we are most thankful for allows us to vibrate on a level that attracts goodness.

Now that you are in the pause, what are you feeling?

Do you ever feel these emotions and think, “This is too good to be true?”  Do you question good things when they happen to you? If so, it may be time to take a look at the beliefs you hold about yourself. Self-limiting beliefs keep us from enjoying the fullness of our lives.  If you believe you don’t deserve happiness, peace, love, etc. you will feel discomfort when you experience those emotions.  Your internal landscape reflects your outward experience.  In other words, what you believe about yourself shapes how you engage with life.  Examining the beliefs we hold about ourselves will reveal the areas of our lives that need more attention, healing, and work.

If you’ve reached a point in your life where you feel like nothing is changing…the patterns, experiences, thoughts, etc. are all the same, I invite you to take a look at the beliefs that you hold about yourself.

Finding Value WorksheetOur beliefs shape our values. We find value in different things every day, and how we measure the things that we value depends on what we believe about them.

HAS THE LABEL EXPIRED WorksheetWhen is the last time you thoroughly cleaned out your refrigerator?

Feeling Broken WorksheetHave you ever felt like your life was not your own?

Feeling broken, misplaced, or helpless in our own lives is common and more normal than you think. There is no guide book to life. There is no right or wrong answer. That is why when you feel stuck or hopeless, it is so important to remember that it’s ok…that everything will be ok. It’s ok to not know your next steps or what to do. It is all part of your unique experience.

Committing to Change WorksheetIs there anything in your life that you would like to change?

Change is hard. It takes time, effort, an extreme amount of work, and commitment. Because changing isn’t easy, it can seem impossible or that it will never come. That is why most people don’t attempt or abandon their efforts to make meaningful changes in their lives. It is easier to settle where you are than to continuously strive for what is available.

What Do You Believe? WorksheetDo you believe that you deserve love, happiness, peace, abundance, and joy?

Finding Value WorksheetOur beliefs shape our values. We find value in different things every day, and how we measure the things that we value depends on what we believe about them.

Navigating Detours WorksheetHave you ever encountered an unexpected detour?”
